What is PHANTOM?
Phantom is a permanent, one-time treatment for ski/snowboard bases that increases the hydrophobicity of the base, providing enhanced glide in all snow conditions. A revolutionary and innovative solution that ushers in a new era in snow sports.
How does PHANTOM work?
Thanks to its patented polymer technology, PHANTOM uses microscopic short-chain compounds to penetrate and diffuse into the unstructured parts of the ski or snowboard base. Imagine it like water filling a cup of marbles, but on a molecular level. Traditional wax cannot do this because wax molecules are too large. Once PHANTOM is absorbed into the base, UV light is used to activate the curing process, permanently bonding PHANTOM to the ski or snowboard base.

PHANTOM Application:
- Curing station. PHANTOM is activated by UV light at a specific wavelength, which initiates the curing reaction. If available, strong natural sunlight at temperatures above freezing can achieve full curing. Aside from our carefully engineered PHANTOM curing stations, other forms of artificial UV light have not been proven to work with PHANTOM to a sufficient degree.
- Home application. PHANTOM can also be applied at home. All that’s needed is access to direct and consistent UV sunlight to activate and cure the formula. The ideal time for application is during spring, summer, and fall when the sun is high and temperatures are warm. For proper PHANTOM application, it’s important that there’s strong direct sunlight and temperatures above 0?C. The curing time for PHANTOM in direct outdoor sunlight is approximately 1 hour. Pre-treatment of the base is necessary before application. For the best absorption of PHANTOM into the base, we recommend having the base ground with a stone grinder/belt at a specialized shop before application. The base can also be stripped of old wax and other impurities using wax-removal agents before application. PHANTOM can also be applied over waxed skis. Testing has shown that PHANTOM molecules penetrate the base through the wax layer.
